Shedding some (more) light on their morning habits, Mira recently said, “Morning ritual: I like to have a glass of water with raisins soaked overnight and then start my day.” Adding that he is “more of a coffee drinker,” Shahid said: “I definitely need coffee a couple of times a day.”What does breakfast include? According to Mira, it is always “uttapam, because that’s what Shahid likes to eat”. “Monday to Sunday, whether we are in India or Sardinia. Even in Antarctica, we may be having uttapam, sambar, and chutney,” quipped Mira, 31, to which Shahid shared that Mira prefers poha and cold coffee. And what’s their most annoying habit? Without revealing any details or demonstrating it, Mira said, “Shahid has a breathing technique to wake up his digestion and his agni.”The Udta Punjab actor also took the audience through his usual morning routine, which includes a workout on an empty stomach whenever possible. “I don’t eat anything before a workout. I usually wait two hours after eating to train. And I prefer to train on an empty stomach whenever my schedule allows me,” shared Shahid, adding that mornings at home can range from “semi calm to insanely mad”.Revealing some habits she has introduced in the family, Mira told Tweak India, “I make my kids walk 100 steps after they have eaten food. Then there is no mixing different fruits at the same time. Also, they have a small cup of warm milk with turmeric, jaggery, and ghee before they sleep.”The duo also spoke about having a “big conversation once a month about their monthly menus”. “Now that our daughter is old enough, she likes to have her say, and Mira and she have heated discussions on what exactly the menu is going to be, which is a lot of fun for me and Zain. We love to watch,” quipped Shahid, who admitted to often cheating with sweets. “Kuch bhi khila do yaar. I love sweets. Kuch meetha khila do. I am very happy”. Do you like to have uttapam? (Photo: Pixabay)Decoding their meals and daily habits, Kanikka Malhotra, consultant dietitian and diabetes educator, said that choosing a consistent and balanced routine with meals centered around seasonal vegetables, lentils, and healthy fats is a practical way to support overall wellness. “This approach delivers vital nutrients while keeping things simple and easy to maintain in daily life. However, to ensure all nutrient needs are met, it’s beneficial over time to rotate choices within each food group—bringing in different vegetables, pulses, grains, and healthy fat sources according to the season,” said Malhotra.Story continues below this adAlso Read | Pinkie Roshan and husband Rakesh love this morning beverage; know benefits and risks for senior citizens aged 70 and aboveShe also mentioned that consistency in eating habits can reduce stress associated with meal planning and help people listen more effectively to their hunger cues. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tweak India (@tweakindia)A little diversity does help in terms of adding fruits, whole grains, and other protein sources. “The key is to stay mindful of overall variety while enjoying familiar foods and make one feel their best.
