Local triathlete Keith Galea has claimed first place in the age group category at the Trofeo SPOT Olympic Triathlon in Pozzallo, Sicily, finishing 8th overall.This latest achievement marks his fourth victory of the season, adding to wins at the National Aquathlon Championship, the National Sprint Triathlon Championship, and the Garmin Triathlon Tour in Poland.“It was a great race where I was fighting for top 3 placing of my category till the bike. Then I found good legs on the run which gave me the win,” Galea explained.Reflecting on his training regime, he said he has been training up to 25 hours a week this summer, sometimes squeezing in three sessions a day.The hard work has paid off with consistent results, including a fourth place finish at the European Championships last August.“I am very happy with this win as it’s the 4th one of the year,” he said, crediting the dedication and discipline behind his season of success.Would you ever attempt an Olympic triathlon?•
