(Express Photo)A fresh political war of words erupted in Mohali after former health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu claimed credit for repairing a dilapidated village link road at his expense, accusing the Punjab government of “zero performance” and “complete failure”.Sidhu said he personally arranged tippers of gravel to repair the road connecting Sawara, Saidpur, Giddarpur, and Chadiala Sudan after villagers’ repeated pleas went unheard. “The current government has failed, and people are not being heard,” Sidhu said, adding that “during the Congress government, each village received grants of about ₹50 lakh, while under AAP, not a single rupee has reached the villages in nearly four years.”But Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh hit back, questioning Sidhu’s authority. “What authority does Balbir Singh Sidhu have to construct roads? Actually, he has a disease called ‘Chhapas Rog’ (a craving for publicity). He’s only getting a few potholes filled to get his name in the newspapers. He did the same earlier in Landran, but no road was built there.”The MLA added that the government had already floated tenders for the roadwork and allotted contracts, with rain delaying execution.“Work will start in a few days,” he said.Taking another swipe, Singh said, “Since losing the election, the former health minister hasn’t seen his name in newspapers and keeps craving that attention. That’s why he keeps making such statements, just to get his name published again.”Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
