(Credit: Unsplash)The Sound and Electricals Generator Association, Pune, has raised concerns that genuine DJs who follow all legal norms are being unfairly targeted by the administrative and police machinery after Ganesh festival celebrations. At a press conference held on Friday, Association President Babloo Ramzani and Working President Raju Kamble demanded equal and fair treatment for professionals who work within prescribed noise regulations.Ramzani said that misconceptions about DJs have resulted in long-standing professionals being blamed and defamed. “We have repeatedly submitted representations to the police and administration, demanding strict action against those who violate the rules. Not only that, but we also gave them live demonstrations but because of DJs from suburbs and from outside Maharashtra who install ‘pressure mid’ setups, sincere DJs who follow all rules are being unfairly targeted by the administrative and police authorities.”, he said. The association further stressed that the same noise pollution rules applied to DJs should also apply to dhol-tasha troupes in order to maintain consistency.Ramzani also appealed to public figures, sponsors, and Ganesh Mandals not to endorse the call for a DJ-free festival. “For us, this is not just a business but our livelihood. Demanding a ban on DJs is like putting our daily bread at risk,” he added. The association underlined that many members have taken loans worth lakhs to sustain their profession. They urged authorities to find a balanced solution and extend support to rule-abiding DJs rather than penalising them indiscriminately.Story continues below this adRaju Kamble highlighted the significance of sound in enhancing the festive spirit of the Anant Chaturdashi procession. “Excessive sound, whether from traditional instruments or sound systems, can harm health. But for that, measurement standards must be reviewed. We urge the administration and police authorities to address this fairly and take appropriate measures to curb noise pollution while ensuring equal justice for all”, he said.Click here to join Express Pune WhatsApp channel and get a curated list of our stories© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:Maharashtra
