Erling Haaland might well be on his way to becoming the greatest Champions League goal scorer of all time. The Manchester City striker found the net yet again on Thursday, heading home from Phil Foden’s cheeky lob to help his side beat Napoli 2-0 at home. That was his 50th goal in just his 49th Champions League appearance, making him the fastest player to reach the milestone in the competition’s history. The Norwegian is currently outpacing some of the greatest forwards ever to grace the game, such as Thierry Henry, Raul, Ruud van Nistelrooy and, of course, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The records just keep on tumbling for Haaland, but there is one that he just missed out on. At 25 years and 59 days of age, he is the second youngest player to ever score 50 goals in the Champions League. The only footballer to do it at an earlier stage of his career was, obviously, Messi, who was 24 years and 284 days old when he reached the half century. It is not usual for even the best players to reach 50 goals in the Champions League in their mid-twenties, with Kylian Mbappe the only other player to do so. Even Ronaldo took until he was 28 to do so.Read – Five things we learned from the Champions League action (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});The youngest players to score 50 goals in the Champions LeagueLionel Messi: 24 years 284 daysErling Haaland: 25 years 59 daysKylian Mbappé: 25 years 356 daysCristiano Ronaldo: 28 years 78 daysRaúl González: 28 years 93 daysKarim Benzema: 28 years 354 daysRobert Lewandowski: 30 years 98 daysRuud van Nistelrooy: 31 years 79 daysThierry Henry: 31 years 234 daysThomas Müller: 32 years 86 daysRead – The managers with the most Champions League campaignsRead More – Our Champions League predictions as competition returnsSee Also – Free Agent XI: The best players currently without a clubFollow The Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post The youngest players to score 50 goals in the Champions League first appeared on The Football Faithful.
