Despite being backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in North India and despite riding on the success of Hanu Man, Mirai is falling slightly short of that film’s benchmarks. On Tuesday (day 5), Mirai earned Rs 5.75 crore across all languages in India, a slight dip from its Monday (day 4) earnings of Rs 6.40 crore. Over the opening weekend, Mirai amassed Rs 13 crore, Rs 15 crore, and Rs 16.6 crore, on Friday (day 1), Saturday (day 2), and Sunday (day 3 respectively). As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Mirai across India is Rs 56.75 crore. While this is no easy feat, Mirai can’t match the pace of Hanu Man, which had earned over Rs 67 crore in the first five days of its release in India last year. Moreover, the first day included only the earnings from the previews. It also enjoyed an extended opening weekend since it released on a Thursday. However, Mirai seems to be only slowing down and thus, can’t match up to the word-of-mouth magic of Hanu Man.The biggest share from Mirai’s domestic box office collection so far is still the native Telugu version, followed by the dubbed Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions respectively. The Hindi version got a push when Johar came on board as a presenter in North India, having backed popular Telugu blockbusters like SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise in the past.“They (Dharma Productions) wanted to distribute the film and I met Karan sir. He watched the film and he was pleasantly surprised by knowing the economics and how we pulled it off. He was very excited. He said, ‘See Teja, I want this film to have an even bigger platform, not just distributing. I want to present this film by myself to the North audience so that you will have a bigger platform to showcase your talent’. It’s kind of him to come forward. Now that he’s associated, I have even more responsibility to live up to it,” Sajja told PTI.Mirai: Super Yodha is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad of People Media Factory. Gattamneni penned the screenplay, alongside Manibabu Karanam who also wrote dialogues. The movie has also been released in Bengali, Marathi, and Chinese languages. It also features Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu and Jayaram in key roles. Also Read — Mirai movie review: Teja Sajja and Manchu Manoj deliver a generic yet engaging filmStory continues below this adStarting next Thursday on September 25, Mirai will encounter formidable competition in another pan-India action entertainer — Sujeeth’s OG, starring Telugu superstar and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
