The arrest was made by the Sector-31 police team during a late-night vehicle checking drive on Sunday.Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO of Police Station Sector 31, said that the accused was identified as Subhash alias Shivam, a resident of Zirakpur.According to police, the incident took place when ASI Pawan Kumar and his team were conducting a vehicle-checking drive near Sewa Kendra in Sector 31 around 9.35 pm. A white car (Chevrolet Cruze) was signalled to stop but the driver attempted to flee. The police party managed to intercept the car, and on questioning, the driver identified himself as Subhash. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a country-made pistol and five live cartridges.Police said the accused had been working as a street vendor, but has a history of criminal involvement. His past record includes two cases, under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act.The accused has been booked in the present case under sections of the Arms Act at the police station in Sector 31, Chandigarh.
