The soft-drink company today released a statement clarifying its position.“We are informed of an incident involving one of our beverages and we are in touch with the concerned consumer and continue to cooperate with the consumer. We are working with all relevant stakeholders to assess the facts. Quality and safety are a top priority for Coca-Cola. Every precaution is taken so that no foreign object can enter the packaging during the filling and sealing stages. Our entire process from the manufacturing stage to the transportation stage is always conducted under optimal and sanitary conditions,” the statement said.In a statement on the same day, SpiceJet stated that the soft drink had been served in a sealed can and that the passenger was given full assistance once the issue was reported. “After receiving the complaint, the crew made an announcement to check if a doctor was on board, but none was available. The airline then alerted Pune airport authorities, where an ambulance was arranged. The passenger underwent X-rays and other medical examinations in a hospital after landing, but no foreign object was detected, and he was subsequently discharged,” the airline said in a statement.The statement by SpiceJet also said, “The passenger was discharged the same evening. All medical expenses were borne by the airline, and SpiceJet staff remained with the passenger throughout. As per our Standard Operating Procedure, the soft drink can was retained for investigation by the vendor.
