This was in an article about the ASPCA: "...The organization spent more on advertising and promotion than it did on grants and veterinary services combined...." I strongly believe EVERY not for profit/nonprofit entity should have to include basic statistics in every soliciting advertisement they put out that includes % of income that goes to the ACTUAL services they state like food for hungry, animal care, etc. Just info about % of income that goes to CEO and executive team, and % of income spent on sales and advertising. People would be amazed to find that less than a .25¢ out of every $1.00 raised goes to provide the actual charitable services. It seriously deters me from wanting to donate to these national charities anymore.
