As per the information given by officials from the Loni Kalbhor police station under Pune City police, around 11 am on Friday they received a call after some local fishermen had located a dead body in the water of Mula Mutha river.The location where the body was retrieved from is behind the campus of the MIT college in Loni Kalbhor. A few days ago, a missing persons case was registered regarding a man identified as Subhash Kisan Kamthe, 65, at the neighbouring Fursungi police station. “Since the description of the body matched this missing persons report, the Fursungi police station and family members of the man were notified,” said an officer from Loni Kalbhor police station.The officer added, “The family members identified the body as that of Kamthe. Subsequently a probe into the death has been launched. An autopsy has been performed. Initial findings pointed to death due to drowning. Prima facie there are no injuries or signs of struggle on the body. We have come to know that the deceased was struggling with alcoholism. We are investigating whether it is a case of suicide or accidental drowning.
