I only donate to two local cat-care organizations that I know spend most of the money they get on the cats, and the Sierra Club. In this economy I want my money to go to organizations that do things I'm interested in getting done. The thing is, if I donated to every worthwhile organization in the world I wouldn't have enough money left over at the end of the month to buy cat food. I've dealt with the two cat-care organizations personally (adopted cats from one, got a bunch of ferals fixed through the other) and I know they spend most of their money on the cats.
