Just over two weeks after permanently closing The Boneyard, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has already demolished the 27-year-old play area. This opening-day attraction welcomed its final young paleontologists on September 1, 2025, as part of DinoLand U.S.A.’s transformation into a Tropical Americas-themed land.At D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney World Resort confirmed plans to build Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-inspired area, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The land will take over DinoLand U.S.A. and feature two new Encanto (2021) attractions and an Indiana Jones retheme of the DINOSAUR ride.Credit: DisneyDinoLand U.S.A. has closed in phases, with TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama (including the Fossil Fun Games) sunsetting in January. In the months since, crews have flattened the opening-day Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park land, preparing for the upcoming Encanto attractions.Credit: DisneyAfter The Boneyard went extinct earlier this month, construction walls quickly surrounded the former play area. Just over two weeks later, crews have dismantled most of the towering playground. The final day to experience the remaining attraction, the Quick Service dining locations, and the environmental storytelling of this opening-day land is February 1, 2026. Given how quickly Walt Disney World Resort typically boards up and blocks off closed theme park areas, guests shouldn’t expect to be able to explore any part of DinoLand U.S.A. after February 1.Credit: Inside the MagicPueblo Esperanza is expected to premiere at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park sometime in 2027.
