Under this initiative, 4,227 roads covering 9,410 kilometres will be repaired and upgraded in the current financial year, at a cost of Rs 4,827 crore.Addressing a state-level event in Hisar district, the Chief Minister described the launch as a “golden chapter” in Haryana’s infrastructure development. He said the project will be a milestone in building a developed India and a developed Haryana. It will bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, enhance connectivity for citizens, and further boost the state’s economic, social, and commercial growth. As part of the launch, repair and improvement work on 410 roads was inaugurated today. The Regional Road Upgradation Project will lower transportation costs, reduce pollution, save fuel, and give a boost to both industry and agriculture, he added.While highlighting the state’s progress in road and railway infrastructure over the past 11 years, the Chief Minister said that 43,703 kilometers of roads have been improved at a cost of Rs 28,651 crore, and 2,417 kilometers of new roads have been constructed at a cost of Rs 2,534 crore. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, an additional 2,432 kilometers of roads have been built at a cost of Rs 1,077 crore.Regarding railway infrastructure, Haryana has 759 railway crossings, of which 592 are manned and 167 are automated. Over the last 11 years, 97 railway overbridges and underpasses have been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 2,000 crore, and construction is currently underway on 47 more at a cost of Rs 1,026 crore. In comparison, during the 10-year tenure of the Congress party, only 51 railway overbridges and underpasses were built.The Chief Minister said that under the double-engine government, 21 new national highways have been approved in Haryana, with 12 already completed. Upon their completion, every district in the state will have national highway connectivity. In the past 11 years, 1,719 kilometers of national highways have been constructed at a cost of Rs 28,582 crore, compared to 451 kilometers built during the 10-year Congress rule at a cost of Rs 1,713 crore. In addition, 27 toll barriers have been removed to facilitate smoother traffic flow.He said that fulfilling long-standing demands, the Rohtak-Mahem-Hansi railway line has been constructed at a cost of Rs 844 crore, and the Sonipat-Jind railway line at Rs 713.40 crore. The country’s first elevated railway line has been completed in Rohtak, with work on a similar line in Kurukshetra underway at a cost of Rs 265 crore. A rail coach repair factory has been established in Barhi, Sonipat, at a cost of Rs 483.64 crore. In urban transit development, several metro projects have been launched including YMCA Chowk to Ballabhgarh metro line in Faridabad with Rs 580 crore, Badarpur-Mujesar metro line with Rs 2,494 crore, Bahadurgarh-Mundka metro line with Rs 2,029 crore, Gurugram metro line from Sikanderpur station to Sector 56 with Rs 2,143 crore.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Nayab Singh Saini
