Walt Disney World Resort is slowly introducing a new look to Soarin’ Around the World, a flying simulator attraction in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. It began in early September, when Disney cast members working on the World Nature attraction debuted brand-new costumes for the first time in many years.The first Soarin’ attraction opened alongside Disney California Adventure Park in 2001. At that time, the Disneyland Resort ride was known as Soarin’ Over California. It took guests on a majestic flight over Golden State attractions like Malibu Beach, Yosemite Falls, and the Golden Gate Bridge. In 2005, Walt Disney World Resort opened its own version of Soarin’ Over California in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT.Credit: DisneyIn 2016, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort replaced Soarin’ Over California with Soarin’ Around the World, a high-flying adventure over international wonders like the Great Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, and the Eiffel Tower. Versions of the same attraction eventually opened at Shanghai Disneyland (under the name Soaring Over the Horizon) and Tokyo DisneySea (under the name Soaring: Fantastic Flight). Soarin’ Over California has occasionally returned to Disney California Adventure Park and EPCOT for seasonal events like the International Food & Wine Festival and the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebrations.Now, 20 years after Soarin’ debuted at EPCOT, Walt Disney World Resort is giving the simulator ride a mini-makeover. Earlier this month, Disney cast members working at the attraction debuted new costumes that look more like modern-day flight attendant uniforms than those of the past. According to Laughing Place, the Creations Shop now sells a bright blue T-shirt with the Soarin’ logo on the front and a pilot Mickey Mouse “travel the world” design on the back. It’s available in adult sizes for $34.99.Unfortunately, the Disney Store hasn’t added the Soarin’ shirt to its website. However, it currently sells a matted artisan print celebrating Soarin’ Around the World for $39.99.
