Deshaun Watson is enjoying life off the field as he continues to recover from his long-term injury. The Cleveland Browns quarterback, who has been out since a season-ending Achilles injury last year, had photos of his 30th birthday shared by his wife, Jilly Anais. The birthday celebrations looked grand with pictures of Watson all over the walls and an endless supply of decorations and balloons.Anais shared the post with a touching caption.“An unforgettable night at The Watson Estate! #HappyBirthdayHusband” she wrote.Deshaun Watson is on the road to recoveryWhile it’s unlikely that Watson will play any football this season, the quarterback has been seen practising. Back in August, amid the Browns’ intense quarterback battle, Watson posted footage of throwing a football and doing light drills.“Focus only on victories everyday… More GLORY,” Watson wrote at the time.As Browns’ will remember their quarterback tore his Achilles tendon back in during a 21-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last October.Watson’s leg hyper-extended on a non-contact play as he tried to carry the ball during the first snap.He then immediately fell to the ground after the move, and a cart came and wheeled the teary quarterback off the field. Then, in another setback, he would later tear his right Achilles tendon while on the rehab trail in January of this year, which ihas likely ended any hope of playing again in 2025.Watson suffered a non-contact Achilles tear against the Bengals in OctoberGettyWatson appeared to have a huge birthday party as he turned 30@jillyanaisWatson’s injury was the latest in a long line of quarterback problems for the Browns, who had given the Houston Texans three first-round draft picks, a 2023 third-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick for the quarterback. They also handed him a five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million contract despite more than two dozen women coming forward to accuse him of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct, claims that Watson has always denied. An initial six game ban was handed out to the quarterback, which was extended to 11 games after the NFL appealed the initial decision, and he was given a $5million fine. The Cleveland Browns’ QB woesIt’s been an awful start to the season for the Browns, as they fell to 0-2 after a blowout 41-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.Watson has been at the Browns’ practice facility as he continues his recoveryGettyVeteran Joe Flacco has failed to impress, and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are expected to see the field this season, while the Browns still owe Watson $46 million in each of the next two seasons.Much of the blame this season has been laid at the feet of Flacco, who is struggling to make an impact on what is already a weak offence. In that Ravens defeat, Flacco threw an interception that led to a Ravens touchdown, which put Cleveland down 20-3 early in the third quarter..He later lost a fumble, which led to another touchdown and was pulled from the game for the last series as the Browns headed to certain defeat.Head coach Stefanski made it clear to reporters he is not thinking about changes at quarterback, preferring to focus on the overall team performance.“I don’t think we did good enough. I think that collectively as a team, we as an offense, we as the coaching staff, all of us didn’t do a good enough job.”The Cleveland Browns take on the unbeaten Green Bay Packers in Week 3, with the Packers having already beaten the Detroit Lions and Washington Commancers so far this season.Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the news, exclusives, interviews and more.
