The agency then released another statement removing his designation as journalistThe Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday said it had arrested a self-proclaimed journalist, Ketankumar Kantilal Patel, and his wife Meena of Sabarkantha, for allegedly seeking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to scuttle an alleged corruption case against a person.The ACB said that Ketankumar Patel, an RTI Activist, is residing in Himmatnagar.The ACB said that Patel had filed an application with the ACB against a person for alleged corruption. Patel then allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the person to withdraw the application filed before the ACB. However, the person against whom Patel had made the allegations approached the ACB and filed a complaint. The ACB then set a trap at a toll booth near Prantij. According to the agency, Ketankumar Patel had a purposeful conversation with the complainant, accepted the bribe money, and handed it over to his wife Meena. Both Patel and Meena were arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The amount of Rs 5 lakh was recovered from the couple.The ACB, in an earlier statement, said Patel is a journalist from a major newspaper.
