Gang of four loots ₹1.5 crore from the house ofprofessor

A gang of four men posing as government officials looted ₹1.5 crore cash and gold valuables from the house of a professor in Yelahanaka recently. The accused barged into the house of Giriraj, working as a professor at a private university, claimed to be from the government and was conducting search and seizure operations at the house. They ransacked the house, found a bag with ₹1.5 crore cash kept in the kitchen and claimed to “seize” it and fled the house. They also took some gold jewellery they found in the house. Prof. Giriraj was away when the incident happened and the accused threatened his wife and aged parents and made away with the money. Prof. Giriraj had brought and kept the money at home to buy a property, sources said. The police analysed the CCTV footage and found the car the accused came in used a fake registration plate.
