If a guest from 1989, the year Hollywood Studios opened, walked into the park today, it would be unrecognizable to them. None of the opening-day attractions are open at the park, which has undergone massive changes in the last decades with the addition of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. The archway that marks the entrance to Animation Courtyard, once marked the entrance to the park’s animation studio and featured bas-reliefs of animators, is now set to be demolished. A few months ago, Disney announced that Animation Courtyard and Star Wars Launch Bay would be disappearing, and the early renditions removed the original archways from the park. Now, the time has come for Disney to begin its work. Disney closed Muppets Vision 3D and nearly completely demolished the former Muppet Courtyard to make way for its new Monsters, Inc. Land. Much like the Magic of Disney Animation, the Muppet transformation is expected to be completed in 2026. To add to the park’s construction theme, Disney has also been working on a project in the walkway between Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. The project has mostly spilled into larger parts of Galaxy’s Edge, but it’s still unclear exactly what Disney is doing there.
