An image from Marvel has been circling around, and people claim that this simple piece of embroidered merch bag reveals not only the heroes and villains we will see in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, but it also happens to reveal what they would look like in the film. With plenty of characters, we can speculate what the creative team of Marvel gifted us with through the appearances of our favorite heroes. Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images/Screenshot via Marvel Studios For RDJ’s Dr. Doom costume, we can see that it is a simple and comic-book-accurate design for him. It is complete with the green hood and cape, attached by two large, circular pieces of metal with what looks like chains on them. A very classic and easily recognizable Dr. Doom design. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic Image via Marvel Studios Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards is nearly similar to the Fantastic Four: First Steps version of Mr. Fantastic, rocking the same mustache, with a blue Fantastic Four uniform under what looks like a white lab coat, the inside of it colored blue as well. Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier Photo via Marvel Studios Bucky Barnes’ outfit looks very much the same as his outfit from the Thunderbolts Movie. There is a rather small, circular logo on his left chest, which might just be the Avengers logo, but with the Thunderbolts’ ending scene telling us that they cannot use the Avengers title, this might be something else. Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova Yelena’s outfit also didn’t change much, and it also looks like the team in Marvel decided to keep her style as her own, rather than making her look or dress like her sister, the OG Black Widow. Though her face is obscured, we can also see that her hair has grown quite a bit, which we might see in the movie. Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto Photo by Kirsty Wigglesworth-WPA Pool/Getty Images Unfortunately for this one, the entire face and a small portion of their costume are blocked, but many believed this is Ian McKellen’s Magneto. Though this Magneto has the same color scheme as Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, the overall design is much more akin to that of Ian McKellen’s. Either that, or this character might be someone else; it could range from someone like Star Lord to the Scarlet Witch. But with these images matching the released cast names during the chair reveal, it is not far off that this could really be Magneto. Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast Photo by Gabe Ginsberg/Getty Images Unlike the same Hank McCoy we saw during the end credits scene of The Marvels, the Beast we see in this merch is not wearing a lab coat and is shown topless, most likely matching the more comic-book-accurate look of the Beast, which we will see often in this list. Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost Image via Marvel Studios At first glance, people might mistake her for Gaia, but this woman is actually Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost. In this image, we can see her face, clear as day, and she seems to be wearing a coat over her costume. With her powers allowing short-distance teleportation and phasing through control of her quantum state, this might suggest that she could control her powers much more easily in the movie, making her less dependent on her suit. Chris Hemsworth as Thor Photo via Marvel Studios Thor’s outfit rocks an all-black look with short hair and beard, making him look almost like the same Thor from Avengers: Infinity Wars, minus the long chain-mail sleeves. Some time might’ve passed for Thor, making him change appearance, hinting that maybe we might even see more new things from him, like his axe having a more Uru-based handle than the wooden Groot one, and his suit might be remade to withstand more powerful, god-killing blows. Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman Screenshot via Marvel Studios With Sue Storm’s costume, we could see a better look at what seems to be a redesign of the Fantastic Four suits. Unlike the Fantastic Four: First Steps’ simpler, white, turtle-neck design with their logo in the middle, the new one looks like it was straight out of Avengers: Endgame during their ‘time heist’ with more padded lines and patterns, coupled with different shades of blue. Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther Photo by Joseph Okpako/WireImage Shuri’s Black Panther suit looks exactly the same as the one from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, minus her helmet. Nothing much has changed with her design, but her role will be crucial as both the leader of Wakanda and the fact that her nation’s nemesis, Namor, is in the movie as well. David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian Screenshot via Marvel Studios The Red Guardian’s suit also seems like it has rarely been changed. We can see in the merch that the only thing missing from him was his helmet. But, this might just be due to the limitation of embroidering; the star on Alexei’s suit looks like it’s been torn off. This might suggest that it has either been changed to the letter ‘A’ for Avengers, or it could be a result of emotional turmoil with Yelena. Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X Gary Gershoff/Getty Images Professor X has a simpler design, but it has changed since his last live-action appearance, played by Sir Patrick Stewart in the movie, Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness. First off, we can clearly see he is not in his iconic yellow, high-tech wheelchair and is wearing a black shirt with a top coat, and a clearly distinguishable X-Men logo. James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops Kevin Winter / Getty Images Everybody loves the comic-book-accurate look on Cyclops. He can be seen rocking the yellow and red visor that prevents his heat vision from blasting out of control; he’s wearing what looks like the iconic blue X-Men spandex, topped with an X-Men belt over all of it. Many of the Marvel fans approve of this design. Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon Photo via Marvel Studios Not much has changed with the new Falcon’s appearance. There seems to be only a minor color change, and lines and patterns differ very slightly, which might suggest an upgrade from either Joaquin Torres himself or with the help of Sam Wilson after nearly dying in the movie, Captain America: Brave New World. Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images It looks like Sam Wilson will be rocking the Captain America: Brave New World costume rather than the Falcon and the Winter Soldier suit. At this point, Sam Wilson had fully embraced the role and responsibility of Captain America and needed to have a suit that resembled that authority. Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing Photo by Amy Sussman/WireImage Meanwhile, Ben Grimm’s suit looks the same as what he had back in Fantastic Four: First Steps. Unlike the other members of the four, he seems to be the only one who didn’t have much change in his appearance. Except perhaps the fact that he shaved his rock beard. Simu Liu as Shang-Chi Photo by Greg Doherty/Getty Images for 2K Shang-Chi is also rocking his classic red and black suit, which he originally wore in his movie. Too bad we cannot confirm whether he still has the Ten Rings or has given them away to Wong or the Avengers. Winston Duke as M’Baku We can also see M’Baku in the mix, wearing a more golden/yellow dominant attire. The fine details of M’Baku in the merch are hard to see, but it is certainly different from what we last saw him wear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But seeing that he is wearing a more flashy attire could mean something, maybe like he would stand as Wakanda’s temporary ruler? Or maybe it is a ceremonial suit of some sort. Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau/Gambit Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for The Recording Academy Gambit’s outfit in Deadpool and Wolverine had already been receiving just as much love as Wolverine’s comeback in the MCU. So it’s no surprise to see his design barely change at all; the brown leather jacket over his black and purple spandex is as iconic as Wesley Snipes’ portrayal of Blade. Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler Image via Marvel Seeing the black suit with red lines, despite the image of the merch having mid-quality, we can clearly see that it is the classic X-Men design for Nightcrawler, yet another comic-book-accurate depiction of his design. Lewis Pullman as Bob Reynolds/Sentry Image via Marvel Studios The Sentry also did not change much; in fact, it is a one-to-one recreation of the MCU’s Sentry. From the pattern of the lines on his suit, the slick, combed-back hair, and even down to the neck space below his chin. It may be just the same design, but this really tells more about the level of impressive embroidery skills of the people who made the merchandise. Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man Photo by Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images Looking closely, and if you really look into it, anyone would assume that Ant-Man’s costume here is going to be inspired by either a new design or the last one Scott Lang was wearing. But it actually looks more similar to the costume Ant-Man had in his second movie, Ant-Man and The Wasp. Could this suggest that we are either looking at a different Ant-Man? Or is there another time-space trouble that we should expect? Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images for Netflix The last member of the Fantastic Four, who also got a new look for Avengers: Doomsday. Though we can say that this is a new suit, but if you remember in the Fantastic Four: First Steps movie, we all know that Johnny Storm is a space suit enthusiast. And what we may be seeing is not an official Human Torch costume, but may just be a space suit designed by him. Tom Hiddleston as Loki Photo via Disney Plus/Marvel Studios The image of Loki in this one very much resembles the God of Stories, Loki, from his own series after its finale. It would make sense to have him in a Multiverse-level event, but now it would be interesting to see what would happen if he reunites with his brother, Thor. Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor Photo by Vianney Le Caer / Invision / AP Namor has a much more interesting change of appearance. On the merch bag, Namor can be seen wearing a black jacket with a blue interior. Now, this might suggest that the change of appearance would be because he’ll be spending more time on the surface than underwater. But the fact that he is being formal might mean one of two things. He’ll open Atlantis to the world like Wakanda did, or this will hint at the existence of the Illuminati. Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkhölme/Mystique Photo by Lia Toby/Getty Images for Paramount Pictures Mystique is one of the characters here who has a major redesign, seeing her go from the literal bare-skinned Mystique to a more formally dressed Raven Darkhölme. We see her wearing what could be a white dress with exposed shoulders and long white sleeves, which is another comic-book-accurate design, but it could also be a full-body uniform designed by the X-Men. We can also see the hair change on her, from a medium bob cut to what looks like a pixie cut. Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent Photo by Leon Bennett/FilmMagic Rocking the Thunderbolts costume, John Walker doesn’t seem to plan on changing his appearance anytime soon. We can see him still in a star and stripes suit that he wore during the events of the Thunderbolts movie’s end-credit scene, where we can also see him in the same blue beret. Franklin Richards And lastly, this one was not even in the chair announcement, but is a very crucial character for Avengers: Doomsday, Franklin Richards. In the last image, we see what looks like a young, blonde boy who resembles the appearance of young Franklin Richards, the son of Sue Storm and Reed Richards. He has a simple design, but has a color palette similar to the Fantastic Four. These images that came out from a simple merch may be lackluster to many, but to most, it is a must-have merch, and it will not stop fans from deep diving and over-analyzing it just so they can get any hint or clue as to what to expect for Avengers: Doomsday. The image of the merch alone already made the fanbase blow up with theories, but at the end of the day, only time can tell. But hey, what do you think about the heroes’ design on the merch bag?
