(Source: File/ Representational)Police have arrested two accused in connection with a gunpoint car robbery reported from the IT City area on December 13. The stolen Hyundai i20 car and a motorcycle used in the crime have been recovered.The arrested accused have been identified as Vikram Masih and William Masih, residents of Mahal village, Kalanaur police station, Gurdaspur district, and currently residing at Nanu Majra village under Sohana police station, Mohali.Senior Superintendent of Police Harmandeep Singh Hans said that a complaint was filed by Deepak, a resident of Sector 82A, who works as a business manager with Livspace Home Interiors, located in Industrial Area Phase 1, Chandigarh.According to the complaint, on the evening of December 12, around 7:45 pm, Deepak was returning to his PG in his red Hyundai i20 after work. Around 8:30 pm, while he parked his car outside his paying guest accommodation and attending a phone call, a youth arrived on a Splendor motorcycle from behind.“The accused engaged him in conversation on the pretext of asking for directions and suddenly tried to open the car door. When the victim resisted, the accused pulled out a pistol, loaded it and threatened to shoot,” the SSP said.Fearing for his life, the victim stepped out of the car, after which the accused fled with the vehicle, leaving the motorcycle at the spot.The victim stated that the car contained a company laptop, an iPhone 14 Plus, AirPods, charger, ATM and credit cards, the spare car key, insurance and pollution certificates, registration certificate and a copy of his driving licence.Story continues below this adFollowing the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested the accused, recovering the looted i20 car and the motorcycle.
