Despite Silksong's highly successful launch in September, Team Cherry hasn't forgotten about the game that started it all. The indie studio has announced that Hollow Knight will be getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition in 2026, with a performance update also inbound for all other platforms.Team Cherry says the Hollow Knight update will be similar to the upgrade that Silksong received in its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: high frame rate modes, options for higher resolutions, and other graphical upgrades. Also similar to Silksong, all players who already own the Nintendo Switch version of Hollow Knight will get the Switch 2 Edition for free when it launches.In preparation for the Switch 2 upgrade, Hollow Knight is going to get a major update across all platforms, which will serve to add new features and patch up bugs in the game. Players on PC will be able to preview some of these upgrades in a new public beta branch for Hollow Knight, available to test through Steam or GOG. The beta update includes official support for people playing on Steam Deck or ultrawide monitors, with full 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratio support.Team Cherry hasn't shared a release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition, only saying that it will arrive sometime in 2026. The studio has also announced a new free expansion for Silksong, Sea of Sorrow, which is also scheduled to release in 2026.It's been a big year for the Australian indie studio, with the surprise release of Hollow Knight: Silksong in September after an extended seven-year development period. Silksong took home the award for Best Action Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2025, and was included as one of GameSpot's 10 best games of 2025.
