The composer went on to give a series of interviews addressing the fallout, before eventually reconciling with his family. The sustained buzz around his personal life ultimately paved the way for his entry into the controversial reality show Bigg Boss.Although Amaal made it to the top 5, he became the first contestant to be evicted from that bracket. During his time inside the house, he was frequently criticised for sleeping a lot, something he later attributed to the health issues he was battling. Now that the season has concluded, Amaal has once again reflected on his childhood and family dynamics, crediting his upbringing for giving him the resilience needed to survive the pressures of the Bigg Boss house.Speaking to Pinkvilla, Amaal said, “I have had a very street upbringing. People assume I was born with a silver spoon, but that’s not true at all. I had a wooden spoon, a broken one, which I repaired, and reused to eat food. That’s where Armaan and I come from. However, I have lived through far more difficult situations than him. We always protected Armaan from most of life’s harsh realities. As the elder son, I faced a lot more and developed thick skin. I have heard many things and endured a lot.”Despite the turmoil within his family and his emotional breakdown on social media, Amaal made it clear that he would never tolerate anyone speaking ill of his father or family.ALSO READ | Dhurandhar, Kesari 2, The Bengal Files serve similar stomach-churning violence: Why do we embrace one and reject others?Opening up about his equation with co-contestant Farhana, he shared, “When my dad came into the Bigg Boss house and we hugged, both of us were crying. Farhana was laughing. I confronted her later and realised we had both made mistakes. But in the real world, if anyone dares to badmouth my father or my family, I will go after them. I will ruin their life.”Earlier this year, Amaal had shared a deeply emotional note on social media, revealing his struggle with depression. The post read, “Today, I stand at a point where I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally and maybe financially too—but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings. I have only myself to blame for my actions, but my self-worth has been diminished countless times by the actions of near and dear ones who stole pieces of my soul.” The composer later deleted the post.Story continues below this adReacting to the controversy, Amaal’s father and composer Daboo Mallik also addressed the situation in an interview with Faridoon Shahryar. He said, “His love for his father can never end. His attachment is unbelievable. If you speak against one person in the family, you are essentially speaking against all of us.”Accepting his shortcomings as a parent, Daboo added, “Amaal’s statements opened our eyes. We realised the mistakes we made, and that is where our relationship solidified. Sometimes you need a medium to express things you can’t say directly to your own people. Things were going wrong. Jyoti and I take responsibility—we were wrong. Maa-baap se bhi galti ho sakti hai (Parents can make mistakes too).”He further admitted, “How can you be biased? How can you overlook something that is deeply affecting your elder son? That was our mistake. For the next 15 days, I stayed awake with him after 4 am every night. I wasn’t just present in the house—I was right there with him. I wasn’t a mature father at the time, and Jyoti wasn’t able to cope either. We failed, and we accept that.”Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:Amaal Mallik
