Written by Jasbir MalhiMohali | December 18, 2025 12:21 AM IST 2 min readEarlier, the Municipal Commissioner had issued a warning under High Court directions, asking all encroachers to remove illegal occupations within three days, failing which bulldozer action would be carried out without any further notice.Continuing its drive against encroachments, the Mohali Municipal Corporation’s tehbazari team Wednesday removed illegal occupations and seized goods belonging to violators.The civic body’s team conducted operations in Phase 5, Phase 3B2, Phase 7, Sector 67 and Phase 11, where illegal rehri-fadi units, fruit vendors, and unauthorised roadside encroachments were removed. The seized material was loaded onto municipal vehicles and taken away. As many as four municipal vehicles were deployed during the operation.The drive was led by Superintendent Mandeep Singh, who said, “Encroachments on public places and roads were causing serious inconvenience to residents and commuters. This action was necessary to ensure smooth movement and public safety.”The operation was carried out in the absence of police force, during which a brief tense situation arose at some locations. However, municipal staff managed to bring the situation under control and completed the drive.Municipal officials reiterated that the campaign to make the city encroachment-free would continue and warned that strict action would be taken against those violating the rules.Significantly, the joint anti-encroachment drive by the Mohali Municipal Corporation and GMADA has been in the spotlight over the past few days. Enforcement has been intensified in several areas, including Phase 10 and Phase 11, targeting illegal constructions and encroachments.
