So it turns out there is a limit to what Donald Trump‘s acolytes are willing to put up with! That limit is publicly mocking a beloved entertainer and artist who was murdered by the mentally ill son he’d spent decades trying to help. I am, of course, talking about Trump’s truly repellent comments in the wake of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele’s murders at the hands of their son Nick. Trump insisted that Reiner died “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME”. Which is an odd way to say “stabbed to death by his monster of a son”. Trump has found few people willing to sink to his level, which in itself is impressive given the pond scum that generally gobbles up his every pronouncement. For example, the staunchly conservative Fox News said this was “beneath the office” of the president. Yes, even Schneider Now it seems he’s even lost Rob Schneider. The comedy star is frequently seen wearing a MAGA hat, produced a comedy special entitled “Woke Up in America”, and told a Turning Point USA event: “You can kill a man. For we are all mortal. But you can never kill his love of his Savior Jesus Christ, his love of our country, and his love of Donald J. Trump.” But dancing on Rob Reiner’s grave? That’s going too far! In comments on Fox News, Schneider said: “I think the president yesterday, he must rise above it, and he seems incapable of rising above the situation and being the president of all of us.” Schneider even explained what he thought an appropriate response from Trump would have been: “He wasn’t a fan of mine but I was a fan of his. He made great films and he was a great artist’—and leave it at that.” And underlined that he respected Reiner despite their differences: “Rob Reiner and I, maybe we’d disagree vehemently politically, but we could agree comedically. We could agree on what made those movies so funny that he made.” This tallies with the post Schneider made in reaction to Reiner’s death: Human beings, Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle have been tragically killed today.I am deeply saddened. Every life is sacred and given by God, our creator. One of the most accomplished American directors who ever lived, his movies have been adored by generations, but I will…— Rob Schneider (@RobSchneider) December 15, 2025 There’s no silver lining to these tragic events, though Trump for once has disgusted his enemies, his supporters and everyone in between. In an ideal world Republicans condemning him now might reconsider their support of all things MAGA and decide now’s the time to push back against Trump. But, sadly, by this time next week we suspect they’ll have fallen obediently in line once again.
