10,700 cases settled at Lok Adalat in undivided West Godavari District

As many as 10,798 cases were amicably settled during the National Lok Adalat held across the undivided West Godavari district on December 13, 2025, according to District Principal Judge and chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Y.S. Sridevi.The National Lok Adalat was organised under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Amaravati, and the Administrative Judge for the undivided West Godavari district Justice D. Ramesh. The programme was conducted under the supervision of the District Legal Services Authority, Eluru.A total of 34 Lok Adalat benches were constituted across the district to ensure smooth and effective disposal of cases. These included nine benches in Eluru, four each in Bhimavaram, Kovvur, and Narasapuram, three in Tanuku, four in Tadepalligudem, two in Jangareddygudem, and one bench each in Palakollu, Nidadavole, Chintalapudi, and Bhimadole.Of the total cases settled, 10,351 were criminal cases, 153 motor accident claims (MACT) cases, and 294 civil cases. In addition, 238 pre-litigation cases were also resolved through mutual settlement, significantly reducing the burden on courts and providing speedy justice to litigants.Giving a mandal-wise breakup, Ms. Sridevi said that 1,988 cases were settled in Eluru, 974 in Bhimavaram, 1,248 in Chintalapudi, 971 in Jangareddygudem, 1,092 in Kovvur, 434 in Narasapuram, 458 in Palakollu, 1,433 in Tadepalligudem, 1,082 in Tanuku, 919 in Nidadavole, and 153 in Bhimadole.The District Legal Services Authority expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the National Lok Adalat, including judicial officers, advocates, police personnel, revenue staff, insurance officials, bank officials, chit fund representatives, labour department officials, municipal staff, BSNL officials, district panchayat staff, transport, excise and railway officials, advocate clerks, agriculture department officials, media representatives, and personnel from various other departments.Ms. Y.S.
