Jasbir Singh Gill, who unsuccessfully contested the recently concluded block samiti elections, is absconding, police said.The incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Thursday, when AAP workers were taking out a rally to celebrate the victory of Sukhbir Singh Khanna, who had defeated Jasbir Singh Gill in the block samiti polls.A video purportedly of the incident later surfaced on social media, showing a clash between two groups, with both groups attacking each other with sticks and bricks.AAP workers alleged that Gill opened fire at their supporters during the rally.On Friday, the district Congress questioned the police action.Former Congress MLA from Gill Constituency Kuldeep Singh Vaid claimed that the violence was triggered after AAP workers misbehaved with Congress leader Pooja, a panchayat member, during the rally.Story continues below this adAccording to Vaid, “Pooja called Gill for help. AAP workers challenged Gill and attempted to attack him with swords, forcing him to fire on the ground and not at anyone in self-defence.
