Mandya Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini continued her surprise inspection of schools which fared poorly in the SSLC examinations last year by visiting the government school in Bindiganavile village at Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district on December 15.During the CEO’s visit, students informed her that they were not being taught science properly. Ms. Nandini then warned the teacher concerned and instructed that the subject had to be taught well.She also directed the Block Education Officer (BEO) to visit the school again after 15 days and take stock of the teaching process. She also sought a report from the BEO on the progress made in teaching science post her visit.Meanwhile, in a meeting with all teachers of the school, the CEO reprimanded the science teacher. She pointed out that the teachers had been vested with the responsibility of teaching 19 students properly, and issued instructions to the school authorities to conduct special classes for all subjects and give attention to each student. The teachers should work positively to instil confidence in students and work towards achieving 100% results, she stated.She also warned that she would submit a report to the Commissioner, Department of Public Instruction, Bengaluru, against the teachers concerned if no improvement is seen in the next 15 days.LibraryThe Chief Executive Officer also inspected the school library and observed that the building was in a dilapidated condition. It not only suffered from inadequate lighting but had leakages during monsoon.She directed the authorities to provide a different room to be used as the library.Food suppliesMs. Nandini also checked the quality of food items, including rice, pulses, milk powder, eggs, oil, and other supplies in the school.She instructed the staff to ensure that clean and tasty food is served to the students.The CEO further directed School Education Department officials accompanying her to ensure that the schools which recorded poor results last year are visited by the officials every week.During their visits, the officials have been instructed to hold interactions with students, gather feedback on their grievances, and come up with necessary corrective measures and implement the same.
