/u/tubbamalub on Tenant wants revenge on landlord for giving them a “measly” $200 Christmas gift

Wow. In many, many years of renting, most of my landlords have never acknowledged the holidays. Large corporate landlord sent out generic happy holidays letter, concluding with a reminder that people should pick up packages from the building office promptly, because they were running out of space to store them. Same building under different management had a drawing one year. I don’t think many people entered, because I won three things—I think things they’d been given by their own vendors/contractors. That was cool. The rent was still due. We had landlords who were friendly and we were the only tenants. They’d bring us a tin of homemade Toll House cookies each year. That was nice. And the last two landlords haven’t acknowledged it. I wouldn’t even know what to do if they said “free rent!”. That would be just too generous.
