ADILABADA survey is underway for the long-awaited Adilabad-Armoor railway line, and the Central government will take the next course of action once the survey report is submitted, said Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy.He was speaking at a meeting in Adilabad on Friday after inaugurating a 50-bed Critical Care building at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), along with Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, who is the district in-charge minister. The new building was built at a cost of ₹23.75 crore. A maternity ward, a minor operation theatre and a 13-bed isolation ward were also inaugurated.Mr. Kishan Reddy said that the Centre has laid focus on enhancing road connectivity and infrastructure network in the erstwhile Adilabad district to boost economic growth in the region and create jobs.The Centre has spent ₹1.5 lakh crore on National Highways in Telangana in the last 12 years, he said, adding that the upcoming greenfield highway connecting Mancherial-Vijayawada on the Nagpur-Vijayawada corridor will further enhance the inter-State connectivity.He said that the government has taken key initiatives to expand medical education and health services by setting up new medical colleges and upgrading healthcare infrastructure.Later, the Union Minister visited the site for the proposed airport in Adilabad town, where an old airstrip of the Indian Air Force is located. According to sources, the officials apprised him of the plans to acquire land for the development of a joint user Airport in the district headquarters of Adilabad.He reportedly told them that a joint meeting of officials of the State government, Civil Aviation and other agencies concerned will be convened in New Delhi soon to speed up the process for setting up the airport in a coordinated manner.
