“The abyss is bottomless. The soul is shattered. Pain and a reality that cannot be grasped.”By World Israel News StaffTal Maor, the father of Aviv Maor, the 19-year-old murdered in Friday’s terror attack in northern Israel, shared a heartbreaking farewell on Sunday, offering a glimpse into a family shattered by loss and a young life taken in an act of brutal violence.“The abyss is bottomless. The soul is shattered. Pain and a reality that cannot be grasped,” Maor wrote in a post on social media.“We miss you and promise to be strong to protect the family you loved so much, my sweet girl. I would give my life for you to come back. Give us signs that you see us. Watch over us from above.”In another message, he described the moments after the attack. “Avivush, my flower, they took you from me beneath our home. I drove as fast as I could and didn’t make it in time. I found you lying there, covered in blood and so beautiful. Our beautiful angel.”In addition to her father’s public farewell, Aviv’s mother, Einat, spoke to Maariv about the daughter who stood at the center of their family. She described Aviv as the eldest child and the emotional anchor of their home, a bond that went far beyond that of parent and child.Einat said Aviv was not only her closest friend, but also inseparable from her younger sister, whom she described as being like a twin to her in both appearance and spirit.Einat also spoke of the passions and dreams that were cut short. Aviv had a deep love for horses and earned a riding instructor’s certification. She was also a trained lifeguard and was scheduled to enlist in the Israeli Air Force in a rescue role.Einat described her daughter as a source of light wherever she went, someone whose warmth drew people to her and who was loved by everyone she met.Aviv, from Ein Harod, was killed on Friday in a series of coordinated terror attacks involving ramming and stabbing in northern Israel.According to Magen David Adom, a report was received at 12:31 p.m. regarding a critically injured woman on Route 71 near Kibbutz Ein Harod. She was evacuated to HaEmek Medical Center in Afula, where she was pronounced dead.Earlier that day, a 68-year-old man was killed in a vehicle-ramming attack in Beit She’an, and a 16-year-old boy was lightly injured in a separate ramming incident in the city.Police said all three attacks were carried out by a single terrorist, a 37-year-old Palestinian man from Qabatiya near Jenin, who fled the scene and was later shot and killed near the entrance to Afula.Additional details later emerged about Aviv’s final moments. According to Einat, speaking to N12, Aviv had driven a close friend to a bus stop outside the kibbutz in the Jezreel Valley. Although he urged her not to wait and to continue on her way, Aviv insisted on staying with him until the bus arrived. At that moment, the attacker arrived in a vehicle and attempted to run them over. When he failed, he exited the car and chased them on foot. The two tried to escape, but the assailant pursued Aviv, stabbing her repeatedly.“They were standing near the safety railing, and he couldn’t hit them with the car,” Einat said. “When they ran, her friend pulled her, but the terrorist chose to chase her. She ran into the fields, through the thorns. He ran after her and stabbed her in the back.”The friend called Einat in panic, shouting for her to come quickly. She rushed to the scene. “When I arrived, there were police officers and medics,” she recalled. “Aviv was lying in a ditch, covered with a scarf. Like a princess. The moment I saw her, I knew. I knew she was gone.”“She didn’t have to wait,” Einat said softly. “But she did. That was Aviv. Pure kindness.”The post Parents’ heartbreaking farewell to Aviv Maor, slain in terror attack appeared first on World Israel News.
