Eddy Kenzo has proposed the establishment of a cemetery dedicated exclusively to creatives, aimed at honoring their contributions and preserving their legacies.Kenzo made the remarks while speaking at the vigil of Fik Fameica’s mother, the late Jackline Nassimbwa. He revealed that during the remainder of his tenure as President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), he intends to advocate for the creation of a resting place specifically for creatives, with the consent of their families. When I am still the President of UNMF in the remaining tenure of my term, I will advocate for the establishment of a cemetery where we can inter creatives whose families provide consent, as the late Herman Basudde had requested a similar sendoff. It would be fitting to have a designated resting place for creatives only, as some lack burial grounds yet deserve a dignified farewell.Drawing from his own upbringing on the streets, Kenzo said that many creatives come from disadvantaged backgrounds and may not have access to family land for burial. He noted that artists who have entertained the nation and contributed to the growth of the creative sector deserve a dignified resting place that can be visited by fans and loved ones. He further suggested that such a site could evolve into a national symbol celebrating Uganda’s creative heritage.Bebe Cool predicts bright future for Uganda’s music industry post-electionsThe vigil also drew other prominent figures, including NUP leader and musician Bobi Wine. Bobi Wine used the moment to urge artists and leaders to speak up for better healthcare services in the country, saying that Fik Fameica’s mother might have lived longer if Uganda had stronger medical facilities. He lamented that she succumbed to cancer at the age of 51, a loss he described as painful and preventable under better healthcare conditions.Fik Fameica’s mother, Jackline Nassimbwa, is scheduled to be laid to rest on the 29th in Kasana, Luweero District. @ddungumedia Happening now at fik fameica’s home RIP maama fik fameica 😭😭🙏🙏🙏#fikfameicamother #fikfameicamotherfuneral #dungumedia ♬ original sound – EZENWANYI AKUABATA NA IHIALA The post Eddy Kenzo proposes cemetery for creatives to preserve their legacies appeared first on MBU.
