Once again, Liverpool fans were left feeling mixed about a Reds victory, with the same old shortcomings on show.Arne Slot‘s champions weren’t entirely convincing in seeing off Wolves 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday, but they got the job done. Here, This is Anfield’s Henry Jackson (@HenryJackson87) and The Redmen TV’s Dan Clubbe (@dan_clubbe) discuss three more points for Liverpool, also assessing 2025 as a whole. The good…DAN: A win is a win, right?Whilst wholly unconvincing for the most part, this unbeaten run is at least cause for optimism that we can still salvage some semblance of a successful season from what only a few short weeks ago felt like a lost cause. The real Wirtz is well and truly here, and finally getting that elusive goals felt important. It looked as though it meant a lot to him as well, so for that to come, and at Anfield, could be the catalyst for more.Individual performance-wise, I thought Frimpong was superb, Gravenberch put in his best shift for a while and Bradley’s potentially three-point saving intervention was pivotal as well! The ‘good’ section can’t end without a mention of seeing Diogo’s children walking out as mascots, and Rute watching on.It was a highly emotional day, and credit to all involved for a wholesome touch.HENRY Forget the football for a moment – seeing Diogo’s kids walk out with Virg was such a heartwarming moment. What I would give for them to have their dad back, but it was nice to see smiles on their faces.I’m with Dan that Wirtz feels like he has arrived at Liverpool now – he’s been playing well for weeks, but hasn’t been getting the rewards. He reminds me a bit of Thiago and Firmino, in terms of his intelligence and technical genius, and I just love watching him play.I agree that Frimpong was a standout, too, and that pace and end product for his assist are things Liverpool have lacked so much this season.Fourth in the table, despite supposedly being in crisis, isn’t too shabby! The bad…DAN: We made heavy weather of that, didn’t we?To be in such a commanding position, only to make life needlessly difficult for ourselves, feels like our toxic trait at the moment.Nearly conspiring to throw away a two-goal lead against that Wolves side, perhaps at its lowest ever ebb, is some going.Set-pieces are a huge issue. I’m going to refrain from being too critical, both in terms of Aaron Briggs and the goal conceded, but we can’t continue to be so susceptible at corners. You can’t sugarcoat our record, both in defence and attack. It is abysmal and in need of sorting.HENRY Watching us try and deal with set-pieces is bordering on comical at the moment. If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry, etc!We look such a soft touch, having been so good in the past, and it has to change, or this unbeaten run will be over sooner rather than later.Yet again, we were also so poor after half-time, and I’m not sure there is a team in Europe worse when leading 2-0 than this Liverpool side.As Dan says, to only edge past this Wolves side in the end wasn’t exactly a great look, and sums up the lingering lack of confidence, despite recent improvements. Give 2025 a mark out of 10…DAN: Perhaps the toughest question of the year is summing up the last year. From the highest of highs, notching up No. 20, to the lowest of lows of losing our Forever 20, it has been a true rollercoaster ride of a year.It appears that many of the jury are still out on whether the manager has us on the right path, despite addressing the alarming form.Question marks remain over a few areas of the squad – our record signing has a broken leg and perhaps our greatest player of the Premier League era threw down the gauntlet over his treatment a fortnight ago. This club, eh!Overall, given what we celebrated during the halcyon days of spring, I’d be hard-pressed to mark the year below a seven, but my word, were we on course for a perfect 10.HENRY It’s hard to disagree with any of this, really.Winning the title was an incredible achievement by Slot – let’s not forget that VERY few people expected that to happen straight after Jurgen’s departure. But this season has been a massive disappointment, having gone into it with so much confidence about a first consecutive title win since the 1980s.Sadly, the tragic death of Jota overshadows everything, though, and it is something we should never downplay in terms of the impact it has had on Slot and the players. He will be forever missed.I will go with an eight-out-of-10, considering we won the league, but as Dans says, it was looking like one of the best years in our history at one point. Here’s hoping 2026 is a 10!
