India will assume the chairmanship of the Kimberley Process from January 1, 2026, placing it at the helm of the global effort to curb trade in conflict diamonds. As a major diamond manufacturing hub, India plans to focus on governance reforms, digital certification, transparency and building consumer trust during its tenure.
