Written by Abhimanyu HazarikaGurgaon | December 24, 2025 05:26 AM IST 2 min readThe city’s Traffic Police department has issued 1,081 challans between December 14 and 21 for violations of GRAP-4 norms. For enforcement of norms under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) slapped fines worth a total of Rs 14.10 lakh on 274 violators in the past week.According to MCG data, the highest number of penalties (170) were imposed for not using dustbins, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 75,000. In 28 cases, fines worth Rs 1.40 lakh were imposed for burning of waste. Ten violations related to construction and demolition activities attracted fines worth Rs 2.60 lakh, while in three cases of dust-generating activities fines to the tune of ₹75,000 were imposed.Other violations included nine instances of littering (Rs 45,000), 51 cases of construction despite restrictions (Rs 7.90 lakh), and three cases involving storage of uncovered construction material (Rs 15,000).“To control dust pollution, the civic body is operating 18 mechanised road-sweeping machines during night hours to avoid daytime traffic disruption. Additionally, 10 truck-mounted anti-smog guns and sprinklers are spraying treated water daily on major roads and other areas. Water tankers are also being deployed regularly for dust suppression,” an MCG spokesperson said.Meanwhile, MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said pollution control remains a top priority. “We are strictly implementing all GRAP directives.
