Diogo Jota‘s wife, Rute Cardoso, has thanked Liverpool and its supporters in an emotional post after her two sons were mascots against Wolves at Anfield.As Jota’s former clubs met for the first time since his passing, his two sons, Dinis and Duarte, and other family members, led the two teams out as mascots on Saturday.It was an emotional sight as they each adorned the No. 20 on the back of their Liverpool shirts as they walked out of the tunnel with Virgil van Dijk.Jota’s wife, Rute, watched on from the touchline and later penned an emotional post on social media thanking everyone for the show of support “during this incredibly difficult time.”Alongside images of her two sons and daughter at Anfield, Rute wrote: “From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the club and to all the fans for the love, respect and support shown during this incredibly difficult time.“Your messages and gestures have meant more than words can express.”It was a day to remember Jota on Saturday, with Liverpool and Wolves fans singing their respective songs for him, and Ryan Gravenberch pulling out Jota’s baby shark celebration after his goal. And speaking after the match, Van Dijk expressed how much of an honour it was to walk out with Jota’s sons.“It was an absolute honour to have the boys with me and Ali [Becker] as well together.
