Bedouin crime syndicates infiltrate Jewish towns in the Negev, setting fires and vandalizing dozens of vehicles after police cracked down on Bedouin mafia in nearby town of Tarabin.By World Israel News StaffBedouin vandals broke into multiple Jewish communities in southern Israel Friday night and early Saturday morning, setting fire to cars and causing extensive property damage. One of the hardest-hit towns was Givot Bar, a secular Jewish community of some 1,400 people, just south of Rahat in the Negev. The town of Mishmar HaNegev was also targeted.Dozens of cars were torched or smashed during the wave of vandalism, which authorities suspect was the work of members of a Bedouin crime syndicate operating out of the nearby village of Tarabin.Prior to the wave of vandalism, police from the Rahat station working with the Sahar Brigade carried out a raid in Tarabin, arresting five suspects wanted in connection to the smuggling of military weapons and a number of violent assaults. On Saturday night, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said that he was working closely with Shin Bet chief David Zini to investigate the incident.A police department spokesperson said Saturday that following the infiltrations, six suspects have been taken into custody, including three linked to the torching of vehicles in Givot Bar.The Regavim Movement, a group which monitors illegal Arab land grabs, said the acts of arson and vandalism were in fact terror attacks, accusing the Tarabin crime families of nationalistic motivations.“Last night, a serious red line was crossed: in the heart of the Negev, nationalist terror ran rampant under the cover of a loss of governance. This is no longer a warning sign; these are ‘Bedouinistan’ terrorists conducting a trial run against the State of Israel,” a Regavim spokesperson said.“Terrorists from the village of Tarabin launched a campaign of vandalism in the communities of Givot Bar and Mishmar HaNegev, ostensibly in response to police enforcement activity carried out in their village.”“This cannot be viewed as ordinary crime, but rather as nationalist terror activity in every sense. Masked rioters entering a Jewish community in an act of revenge constitute a public challenge to Israeli sovereignty and represent a violent price-tag attack intended to deter law enforcement forces while sowing fear among Jewish residents.”The group said that years of lawlessness, illegal construction, and the widespread smuggling of weapons into the area have “fostered a generation of rioters who feel the law does not apply to them.”“We demand that the government and all law enforcement systems in the State of Israel stop stalling: a crushing blow must be dealt to terror—not only against the operatives, but against the heads of the clans who back them.”The post Bedouin mafias rampage through Jewish towns in southern Israel appeared first on World Israel News.
