Katrina Kaif is known for her focused dedication and hard work in Bollywood projects — whether it’s an action or song sequence. And her husband Vicky Kaushal attests to that, sharing some behind the scenes of her training process and mindset. In a recent conversation with podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia, the Chhaava actor opened up about his wife’s discipline and commitment towards her work. When Allahabadia asked: “What did Katrina add to your Hindi film industry 101 flowchart?” Kaushal replied:“I learned a lot, like, she is a beast when she has a song or an action sequence coming and everything. I’ve seen her disciplined, like.. there are very few people I have seen so disciplined. She goes mental like five months before that. And her diet changes,” he detailed, before adding: “Then I realised that she didn’t just get it. She has achieved that reputation when it comes to certain things because she puts in that work. And till date, that’s what stimulates her.“She doesn’t do it with an attitude that, ‘Oh no, I have to do it.’ She’s super unemotional about it. Like, you have got to do what you have got to do. And that is something remarkable about her,” said the Masaan actor.Discipline and consistency build on the idea of small, daily actions that accumulate significant results over time, said clinical psychologist Kamna Chhibber. This can apply to any area of life, including your health, lifestyle, and professional sphere. “Both have value and need to be present for people to do well in life. They are interdependent,” noted Chhibber. While motivation is an external factor that may act as the initial spark, consistency and discipline help one keep going every day. According to Rima Bhandekar, Head – Mpower Mental Helath Helpline, Aditya Birla Education Trust, when we hear loud, public criticism about our abilities, instead of shutting down or fighting back, people with a growth mindset take it in like data, and calmly decide to improve where it matters.Story continues below this ad“Growth mindset is like rewriting the script mid-scene, taking the plot to a new direction with more depth. It’s the difference between collapsing under pressure and rising through an unpleasant experience,” she said, adding that progress happens at a faster pace when mistakes aren’t covered up or disregarded, but are actively worked on.“The emotional resilience muscle is built, and individuals who work like this often get respect over time. Available time and energy go into development, not overthinking others or the situation. And in such cases, criticism, instead of becoming upsetting, becomes a change plan,” said the expert.ALSO READ | Vicky Kaushal says wife Katrina Kaif is sometimes too honest: ‘I keep telling her to sugarcoat…’However, there are certain downsides to this kind of mentality as well. Bhandekar pointed out that this kind of constant push to improve can lead to burnout if rest and balance aren’t part of the process. “If negative emotions are not processed appropriately, over time, it could lead to a breaking point. Sometimes, improvement driven only by criticism can move the focus away from personal goals and values,” she said.
