DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream. 5/3/26DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to discuss funding for Homeland Security.“Funding is back for most of DHS, but not all of it,” Bream said.“What does it mean, this historic lapse of funding for DHS as far as rebuilding. Are we able to track all the threats that are out there right now?” Bream asked.“Well, after 76 days of shutdown, which is an historic shutdown, the longest government shutdown in history, it’s going to take some time to recover,” Mullin said.“Are we able to still be mission capable? Yes. Were we able to pick up everything that was being brought to us? No,” Mullin continued.Secretary Mullin explained that the shutdown affected DHS’s ability to pay its bills to keep services running. They had to get help from other government agencies.“We had 500 electric bills throughout just the Coast Guard that was in default and in some cases, we were having to have the State Department and DOW pay the bills,” Mullin explained.“We were also having a tremendous amount of morale issues, so we had a large turnover,” Mullin said.“TSA was down 8 percent, which typically we have about a 4.6 percent turnover there,” Mullin continued.“How do you hire and retain people with that looming over their heads?” Bream asked regarding Rep Bennie Thompson’s comments on another future shutdown.“We can’t argue with crazy,” Mullin said.“For him to say that as ranking member is reckless, and he is not actually doing his job. He is having more political theater because he is pandering to his base,” Mullin said of Rep Bennie Thompson.Secretary Mullin also commented on Rep Raskin’s rhetoric regarding ICE.“First of all, that’s just reckless rhetoric coming out of him,” Mullin said.“Tell me what it is that ICE is doing that’s Unconstitutional because they are enforcing the laws that by the way Congress passed. So, if they wanted to make change, Jamie was there underneath the Biden administration. They didn’t propose one single change to ICE or the CBP,” Mullin explained.Watch:WATCH: @SecMullinDHS calls @HomelandDems @BennieGThompson comments about possibly withholding DHS funding again in the fall “reckless.” pic.twitter.com/hWqyY7mzi5— Fox News Sunday (@FoxNewsSunday) May 3, 2026The post DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin Blasts Democrats Over Possibly Withholding DHS Funds Again (VIDEO) appeared first on The Gateway Pundit.
