A Titanic survivor buried in Malta has finally been given a proper headstone, more than a century after his death.Allen Marden Baggott, who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912, had been resting in an unmarked grave at Ta’ Braxia Cemetery. In a recent post, Dark Malta Tours revealed how they decided to take action after discovering the grave earlier this year.“My immediate thought was: ‘He doesn’t have a headstone – so I’ll get him one,’” they said. With the help of Friends of Ta’ Braxia, who identified the burial site, a marble marker was commissioned and placed on the grave.Local resident James Borg also contributed to the effort, covering half the cost of the headstone after reaching out to support the initiative.A small ceremony was held to mark the occasion, followed by a drink in Baggott’s memory.Should history be preserved more?Photo: Dark Malta Tours•
