Miriam Dalli has hit out at the Nationalist Party’s latest energy proposals, slamming them as flawed and lacking credibility.In a statement backed by the Labour Party, Dalli pointed to what she described as “basic errors” in the Opposition’s calculations, particularly when it comes to projected savings from solar energy.She argued that the figures presented were significantly overstated, claiming the real savings would be less than half of what was promised. Dalli also questioned the viability of the proposal, which suggests that a €60 million one-time investment could generate €30 million in annual savings indefinitely.According to the minister, such returns don’t hold up under standard economic reasoning.She also flagged inconsistencies within the PN’s messaging, noting how different representatives have made conflicting statements, including calls for both increasing and reducing subsidies.Dalli added that businesses were not included in the proposed subsidy cuts, raising concerns about the wider economic impact.In contrast, she pointed to the government’s track record since 2013, saying it has focused on keeping energy prices stable and affordable.What do you think?
