I once listed an old turntable for free on Marketplace, because my it was £28 when I bought it new (6 years and 2 moves ago), and my wife had kindly bought me a swanky new one for Christmas that made my old one look like a child's toy. The messages, requests, and absolute piss-taking were truly crazy, until I changed the listing to charge £10 for it... All of a sudden, the mugs disappeared and it was gone within a day, when a friendly student came to pick it up after a polite and reasonable enquiry. She was just grateful to be getting a turntable for a tenner, and even more so when I told her to keep the money and enjoy the music 🤷🏾♂️ I'll definitely be listing things with a nominal fee, in future. Choosing beggars will still exist, but hopefully it'll weed out the most ridiculous!
