History may not ultimately repeat itself, but so far Causeway (Wootton Bassett) is doing a fine job of mimicking Ballydoyle's recent kingpin Paddington as he completed the Madrid-Tetrarch double on Monday.Sent off the 9-4 favourite for the Irish 2,000 Guineas trial over the same course and distance, the relative of Magical and Rhododendron worked his way past stablemate Neolithic (Sioux Nation) inside the final furlong en route to a two-length success from Andab (Saxon Warrior).“He's a lovely, big relaxed horse and we always felt that stepping up to a mile would suit him well,” Aidan O'Brien said. “He has his prep done now if the lads want to come back for the Guineas and I'd imagine we'll see what happens in France at the weekend and how Gstaad is.”“I'd imagine he'll be very comfortable stepping up to a mile and a quarter when the time comes,” he added. “It wasn't a mickey mouse race today, so he'll have learnt a lot. He was only getting motoring going to the line and he's very genuine.”Following in Paddington's footsteps Causeway lands a hat-trick by winning the Listed Tetrarch Stakes for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore @Ballydoyle @coolmorestud | @IrishEBF_ pic.twitter.com/CVSdyydBy8— Racing TV (@RacingTV) May 4, 2026The post Causeway Stays On The Paddington Trail In The Tetrarch appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
