NBA referee accused of ‘agenda’ as Jaylen Brown unloads in explosive Twitch stream after playoff collapse

Wait 5 sec.

Jaylen Brown did not hold back on anything – the referees, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers all got a piece of the Celtics’ star’s social media rant. The Boston Celtics held a 3-1 lead over the 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, and what came next was something not seen since 2003.The Celtics had a 3-1 lead over the 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, but things changed dramaticallyGettyThe Celtics went on to lose three straight games – and the series – eliminated on Saturday night as the No.2 seeds were beaten by the No.7 seed for the first time in 23 years. The Sixers also became the 14th team in NBA history to win a playoff series after being 3-1 down.Less than 24 hours after the final game, Brown started a livestream on the popular platform Twitch, unloading his frustration at multiple occurrences during the series.“I mean, this is my personal opinion on basketball. Some of y’all might disagree. You know what I mean? But argue with your grandma, flopping has ruined our game,” Brown said.“Joel Embiid is a great player. One of the best bigs in f****** basketball history,“[But he] Flops – He know it. This ain’t breaking news, you know what I mean? It is what it is. I can clip it up. Like I said, y’all can post it on these paid accounts that y’all just bought, whatever. That’s just my opinion.”After firing at Embiid, he turned his attention to the referees, believing they had an agenda against him, especially when it came to calling fouls during the series. He specifically showed an instance in which Sixers forward Paul George appeared to push off slightly before making an offensive move.“If you’re going to call push-offs, call that… Same move. Same refs. Oh, it’s nothing? It’s play on, right?,” Brown added.“But you gonna call me? Everybody does it … but if it would have been me, it’d have been an offensive foul.”Brown called out Joel Embiid also claiming that flopping has ruined the gameGettyBrown claimed that the referees had an agenda against himGettyBrown was called for 10 offensive fouls in the first round of the playoffs, almost twice-as-many as the players behind him.“Every good basketball player does this. What are y’all talking about? They clearly had an agenda,” Brown continued. “If Jaylen does this move, call the offensive foul and follow him every time. I don’t know if it’s because I p***** the refs off. “I’ve been critical about them, and I called them out a bunch of times. So, they were like, ‘You know what, I got you in the playoffs. Watch this.’ [Because] that’s exactly what they did.“It’s clearly an agenda. Look at the same move. Some referees say that if I had to choose, if I had to, like, say there’s some referees that need to be investigated. We had three of them in the last three games.”In the series, the fouls were relatively even, the Celtics were called for 136 personal fouls, while the 76ers sat at 132.Brown was called for 10 offensive fouls during the series against the 76ersGettyIn the regular season, Brown ranked second across the league with 40 offensive fouls called against him, 25 behind New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns.Brown concluded his segment with one final comment.“I’ve been doing it all regular season, not a problem. And now, all of a sudden, it’s offensive foul every time. Keep that same energy with everybody else. That’s all I got to say.”The Celtics season ends but the 76ers advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals where they will face the New York Knicks, while the Detroit Pistons meet the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the West, the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder meet the Los Angeles Lakers, and the San Antonio Spurs take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.Stay up to date with the NBA across all our talkSPORT platforms – subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest news, opinion, exclusive interviews and our daily unfiltered, unscripted show ‘The S* Word, from 8am ET
