Vast majority of Americans believe the United States is winning against Iran, new poll shows.By David Rosenberg, World Israel NewsRoughly three-quarters of American voters believe the United States is winning the war with Iran, a new poll has found, nearly one month into a shaky ceasefire. The Harvard/Harris poll was published last Wednesday and was conducted online from April 23 to 26 among 2,745 registered voters. The poll found that nearly three-quarters (74%) of respondents believe the United States is winning against Iran, with younger voters, middle-aged voters, and Republicans most likely to say the US is winning. The vast majority of respondents (79%) say President Donald Trump made the correct decision to accept a ceasefire with Iran last month.A smaller majority (57%) also support his decision to impose a naval blockade on Iran, with the goal of crippling the Iranian economy. While support was strong among both Democrats and Republicans for the ceasefire, just 36% of Democrats and 46% of independents support the blockade, compared with 86% of Republicans.Nearly two-thirds (65%) of Americans believe Iran is a national security threat to the United States, with majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and independents agreeing with that assessment. Slightly more (67%) believe Iran has been a “leading source of instability” in the Middle East and a major promoter of terrorism.Slightly more than half (52%) of respondents said they supported American airstrikes on Iran, while 54% said the American airstrikes that were carried out from February 28 through April 7 were justified.Large majorities of Americans say the US must insist that a deal with Iran include six key conditions.Three-quarters agree Iran must recognize Israel’s right to exist, while 79% say Iran must stop funding Hamas and Hezbollah, compared to 78% who say Iran must stop executing protesters.Three other conditions, including the permanent reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to free passage, limits on Iran’s ballistic missile program, and an end to uranium enrichment received the backing of between 71% and 74% of respondents.More than four out of every five (81%) respondents said they support the shaky ceasefire in Lebanon, while 76% say that Hezbollah should be required to disarm as a condition for a long-term peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The post US voters back Trump’s Iran blockade, Hezbollah disarmament – poll appeared first on World Israel News.
