K. Neelakandan, the UDF candidate, won by a margin of 4,854 votes after the election results were announced on Monday (May 4).He defeated Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate and sitting MLA C.H. Kunhambu, who was contesting for the third term. Mr. Neelakandan secured 78,910 votes, while Mr. Kunhambu got 73,738 votes.
