(Express fule photo)The Punjab Police said on Tuesday that they have arrested two men from Amritsar and recovered a rocket-propelled grenade, an RPG-22 anti-tank launcher, from them. The accused were allegedly in touch with a handler linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and were “planning an attack during the Diwali period”, the police added.The police identified the accused as Mahekdeep Singh alias Mahek, and Aditya alias Aadi.“The accused were in touch with an ISI operative who provided them with the weapon through their local contacts. They were planning an attack during the Diwali period,” Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said.A First Information Report has been registered at Gharinda police station, and efforts are underway to trace the entire network, DGP Yadav added.“The Special Cell, in coordination with central agencies, apprehended two individuals aged 18 to 19. They were lured by monetary promises. Their connection with Harpreet Singh alias Vicky, lodged in Ferozepur Jail, has been established,” Maninder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Amritsar Rural, said.
