Upcycled Fashion Show In Valletta Turns Trash Into Trendy Threads

This November, Valletta is getting a style upgrade with a conscience. The Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency (MIEMA) is teaming up with Manzoni Fashion School for “The Upcycled Fashion Show” on Saturday, 8th November, as part of the EU Climate Pact Citizen Engagement Activity. The event, held at Sala San Duminku, will see Manzoni students transform recycled and repurposed materials into one-of-a-kind outfits. Each creation is more than just wearable art, it’s a statement about rethinking fashion and the environmental impact of the industry. Why does this matter?Fashion might be glamorous, but it comes at a huge cost. Globally, it accounts for 10% of carbon emissions, 20% of industrial water pollution, and sees 92 million tonnes of clothing waste discarded every year, much of it ending up in landfills or incinerators.By turning discarded items into runway-ready looks, these young designers are challenging the throwaway culture and proving that sustainability can also be stylish. The evening promises more than just fashion. Expect DJ Robin C on the decks, tasty bites and drinks, and lively chats about how we can all make more responsible choices when it comes to clothing.Tickets are available online, so you can snag your spot and see how creativity can meet responsibility in the most stylish way possible. Will you be attending?•
