The actor is married to actress Priya Mohan. Nihal runs a YouTube channel named ‘Oru Happy Family’, dedicated to videos about his family. The actor shared a video titled, ‘The Most Traumatic Experience in My Childhood,’ where he addressed a couple of instances from his childhood and the trauma that he still carries with him to this day. The actor specified that he is opening up about this experience after hearing of a similar case of child abuse. Cases of child sexual abuse have been increasing lately. I, too, went through something similar. I never thought I would ever talk about it publicly. I faced sexual abuse two or three times, and two of those incidents were deeply traumatic.” Nihal went into the specifics of these two stories, which happened in his childhood in two different places with two different men around him. The actor opened up about the first incident which happened about the incident which took place near his childhood home, “Near the house where I lived, there was a home where a staff member from a shoe shop stayed. I must have been around eight or nine years old. One of the men from the shop used to call us, saying he would give us football stickers. He told us we’d get big stickers if we went in. I can’t remember exactly whether he touched our private parts or tried to, but I do remember him calling another boy inside and trying to pull down his shorts. After that, none of us ever went back there. The smell of that room still stays with me.”The actor also shared the second incident, which happened during his stay in Kuwait, where he had a minor incident with an Arab national as a child, which luckily he was able to escape at the last moment by some quick thinking on his feet. Nihal also mentions a few ways for adults to deal with such situations if they come across children who have gone through similar conditions.
