(Source: File)A Sewri resident stabbed his neighbour thrice on Sunday allegedly for telling people in the locality that he was a “mobile thief”. The victim’s condition is serious and he has got 10 stitches in his abdomen. The RAK Marg police registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused and arrested him.According to the police, the victim, Rajesh Sonar, 30, and his wife lives in Sanjay Nagar in Sewri. Sonar alleged his neighbour Pratham Purabiya last month borrowed his bike as he had some work in Byculla. Sonar too accompanied him to Byculla.Near Byculla railway station, Purabiya asked Sonar to get off and asked him to wait there till he returned. After a few minutes, Purabiya came driving at high speed and picked up Sonar. When Sonar asked him why he was driving at high speed, he said he stole a mobile phone in Byculla and requested him not to tell anyone, a police officer said.But Sonar was scared as Purabiya was riding his bike, so he informed the RAK Marg police about the alleged mobile-snatching. RAK Marg police then nabbed the accused and a mobile phone was recovered from him. Purabiya was arrested.Purabiya came out of jail a few days ago and heard that Sonar was alleged going around telling people that he was a ‘mobile thief’. On Saturday, Purabiya armed with a knife stabbed Sonar in his abdomen thrice in front of his wife.“Sonar’s wife informed the police control room and rushed him husband to KEM hospital.
