Hamas reportedly eager to sign US-backed deal ending the war in Gaza, after Israeli forces captured half of Gaza City.By World Israel News StaffThe Hamas terror organization has signaled it is prepared to accept President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip, a source close to the Islamist movement said on Sunday.A Palestinian official told AFP that Hamas is “very keen” to sign on to Trump’s proposed deal which would include an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an Israeli withdrawal from parts of the coastal enclave.“Hamas is very keen to reach an agreement to end the war and immediately begin the prisoner exchange process in accordance with the field conditions,” the official said on condition of anonymity.The source claimed that “Hamas is ready” to adopt the White House plan if Israel’s stated support for the draft is “genuine.”“The occupation must not obstruct the implementation of President Trump’s plan. If the occupation has genuine intentions to reach an agreement, Hamas is ready.”A Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday, and is expected to travel to Sharm el-Sheikh for talks on Monday.The delegation is reportedly headed by Khalil al-Hayya, the chairman of the Hamas politburo who survived an Israeli assassination attempt in Doha, Qatar last month.President Trump earlier set a 6:00 p.m. Sunday deadline – Washington time – for Hamas to give its unequivocal support for the deal as currently drafted, warning of dire consequences should it fail to signal its agreement.However, according to the Palestinian official cited in Sunday’s report, the Hamas delegation in Egypt is slated to engage in talks to work out details for implementation of the agreement, including the timing of the release of the remaining 48 Israeli hostages.“The negotiations aim to discuss the timeline for preparing field conditions for the transfer of captives held in Gaza, as a prelude to launching the prisoner exchange process,” he said.“During communications with mediators, Hamas insisted that it is essential for Israel to halt military operations across all areas of the Gaza Strip, cease all air, reconnaissance, and drone activity, and withdraw from inside Gaza City.”“In parallel with the cessation of Israeli military activity, Hamas and the resistance factions will also halt their military operations and actions.”The post Hamas ‘ready’ to sign on to Trump’s ceasefire deal – report appeared first on World Israel News.
